White Funeral Home Jesup – Velma Frances Rouse, 92 years old of Jesup, IA, died Thursday, July 26, 2018, at UPH-Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Friday, August 3, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church, Jesup, IA, with Rev. Alex Bruening officiating and assisted by Rev. Ann Johnson. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 2, 2018, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, and for an hour before services Friday at the church. Burial will be at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup, IA. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Jesup or the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be posted at www.White-MtHope.com Velma was born January 14, 1926, in Jesup, IA, the daughter of George Washington Davis and Ethel Mae (Meythaler) Davis. She graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1943. On March 18, 1944, she was united in marriage to Gerald William Rouse in Jesup. She worked at the Ford garage and at Jesup Appliance. In later years she was church secretary at First United Methodist Church where she was a member. Velma is survived by three daughters, Jane Rouse of Jesup, IA, Mary (Peter) Ansoff of Annandale, VA, Judy Sinclair of Troy, MO; two sons, Jerry (Denise) Avise-Rouse of Parkersburg, IA, Michael (Brenda) Rouse of Coralville, IA; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald (November 15, 1996); two granddaughters, Allison and Megan Rouse (in infancy); three sisters, Marjorie Rouse, Roberta DiLoreto, Virginia Robinson. |
