White Funeral Home Jesup – Sherry Eileene McGill, 72 years old, of Jesup, IA, died Thursday, July 19, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Jesup Bible Fellowship, Jesup, IA, with Pastor Zane Hall as officiant. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Independence, IA, on Wednesday, July 25. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 23rd, at White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, and will continue for an hour before services, Tuesday at the church. Sherry Eileene Clark was born May 20, 1946, in Independence, IA, the daughter of Wayne Jasper Clark and Dorothy Marie (Gilson) Clark. She attended the University of Chicago and earned a Bachelor of Art’s in Music and then she attended Kirkwood College and Coe College where she earned her Legal Assistant degree. She married Dwayne A. McGill on November 4, 1961 and they later divorced. Sherry was a music teacher for a short time at Independence Elementary School, and taught private lessons from her home. She was also a legal assistant and loved her job. She worked as the assistant court administrator in Waterloo, IA, then for a number of private law firms in Iowa, Missouri, and California. Sherry was formerly a member of the Literary Society, National Association of Legal Assistants, and the American Association of Music Teachers. She was a very active member of Jesup Bible Fellowship, often volunteering her time and talents. Sherry is survived by her 3 sons, Chris (Wendy) McGill of Independence, IA, Randall (Tina) McGill of Hutchinson, MN, Jason A. McGill of Independence, IA; 1 daughter-in-law, Judy McGill of Independence, IA; 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild; 1 brother, Charles (Connie) Clark of Joplin, MO; and 4 sisters, Linda Osterkamp of Dubuque, IA, Donna (Paul) Scheideberg, of Alaska, Cindy (Pete) Skaggs of Oklahoma, and Bobbette (Tony) Strope of Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 son, Brett McGill; 1 daughter-in-law, Carrie McGill; 1 brother, James Clark; and 1 sister in infancy, Janice Marie Clark.
