Independence – Carol Ann Beier, 73 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Friday, July 6, 2018, at her home after a three and a half year battle with cancer.  

She was born on June 18, 1945, in Independence, the daughter of Walter Franck, Jr. and Lucille Frances (Eagan) Franck.  She graduated from high school in Independence with the Class of 1963.  On February 16, 1974, she and Douglas Trent Beier were married at her parents’ home in Independence.  For 28 years, Mrs. Beier was a greeter at WalMart in Independence.  She retired in 2014.  She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Faith Circle.  She helped raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Camp Courageous, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and the Relay for Life.  Taking care of her children and grandchildren was a major part of her life.  She also enjoyed ceramics and reading.

Mrs. Beier is survived by her husband of 44 years, Doug, 2 sons, Matthew (Jennifer) McNamara of Goodyear, Arizona, and Trent (Jennifer) Beier of Crystal Lake, Illinois, 1 daughter, Lisa (Darrin Kressley) Barron of Waterloo, Iowa, 6 grandchildren, Carson (Lauren), Grant, Sloan, Trey, Natalie, and Grace, and 1 great grandson, Cash.  She is also survived by 3 sisters, Linda Lee (Philip) Boelter of Edina, Minnesota, and Vicki Jo (Gary) McClintock and Mary Kay (Daryl) Johnson, both of Independence.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Gary Walter Franck.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 9^th, 2018, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence with Pastor Tom Jones officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.  Friends may call for visitation from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 8^th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
