Independence – Carl L. Robinson, 77 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Monday, June 11, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born on April 21, 1941, in Independence, the son of William David and Neva Pearl (Sinkey) Robinson. He attended school in Walker, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He and the former Sheryl Hare were married in Rowley, Iowa. They later divorced. In 1995, he and the former Cathleen Stover were married. Mr. Robinson was a lead operator at Cargill in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for 36 years before retiring in 2005. He was a member of the American Legion Post #376 in Walker and the Teamsters Union in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. He and his brother used a beagle to hunt rabbits in the winter months. In later life, he enjoyed NASCAR and tractor pulls.
Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife, Cathy of Cedar Rapids, 2 sons, Allen Robinson of Walker and William Robinson of Rowley, Iowa, 2 daughters, Michele (Jeff) Nelson of Belton, Missouri, and Danielle Steines of Platteville, Wisconsin, 9 grandchildren, and 2 brothers, Bert (Sherlene) Robinson of Rowley, and Rickie Robinson of Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Charles Robinson.
Friends may call for visitation from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at the White Funeral Home in Independence. Burial will be at 2 p.m. onThursday, June 14th, at Spencer’s Grover Cemetery near Walker, Iowa.
