Jesup – Trent James Phillips, 38 years old of Jesup, IA, died Friday, April 27, 2018, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA, from cancer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with burial in the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 30^th at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a 3:00 p.m. parish rosary and a 7:00 p.m. vigil service.  Visitation will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the family. Legos and flowers are also appreciated.

Trent was born February 21, 1980, in Waterloo, IA, the son of James Eugene Phillips and Darlene Elizabeth (Jarrett) Phillips.  He graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1998 and later graduated from Hawkeye Community College with a degree in Graphic Design. On June 15, 2002, he was united in marriage to Wendy Jalene Wessels at St. John Catholic Church, Independence, IA. Trent first worked at CR Advertising and later at Amperage Marketing before his current employment at Martin Brothers as a Brand Identity Developer, all in Cedar Falls, IA.  He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, and Knight of Columbus Council #8227 both in Jesup.

Trent is survived by his wife, Wendy Phillips of Jesup; one son, Matthew Phillips and one daughter, Mallory Phillips, both at home; his parents, James and Darlene Phillips of Jesup; one brother, Troy (Katie) Phillips of Waterloo; two sisters, Tracy (Doug) Ciesielski and Tara (Cory) Silka, of Jesup; several nieces and nephews; his parents in law, Bruce and Cindy Wessels of Independence, IA; and sister in law, Lori Wessels and fiancé Mark Wyrick of Waterloo.  His paternal grandparents, James A. and Mary Phillips and maternal grandparents, Harry and Velma Jarrett, preceded him in death.
