White Funeral Home Jesup – Dorothy Ciesielski, 98 years old of Jesup, IA, died Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Lexington Estates, Independence, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Thursday, May 3, 2018, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 2nd at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a 4:00 p.m. – Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary and a 6:00 p.m. Vigil Service. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA. Dorothy was born March 14, 1920, in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Peter Paul Schommer and Minny (Niedert) Schommer. She attended Jesup schools. On February 15, 1939, she was united in marriage to Matthew Andrew Ciesielski at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1971. Dorothy worked at Hinson Manufacturing in Waterloo; K&B Egg Co. in Jesup; the Jesup Country Club; and from 1977 – 1992, she owned and operated “Dor Cies Tap” in Jesup. She was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Jesup. Dorothy is survived by one son, Terry (Judy) Ciesielski of Jesup; one daughter, Darlette Ludden of The Villages, FL; 9 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; also, one brother, Dean Schommer of Independence, IA. In addition to her husband; her parents; a son-in-law, Nick Ludden; one brother, Duane Schommer and one sister, Darlyn Eimers; preceded her in death. |
