Independence – David W. Lawless, 69 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at UP Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. He was born on March 22, 1949, in Independence, the son of John Daniel and Alma Mildred (Andrews) Lawless. He attended school in Independence. On June 17, 1967, he and the former Mary Lou Newton were married at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence. Mr. Lawless was a construction worker for Shirey’s Construction in Waterloo, Iowa, and then Larson Construction in Independence before retiring. He always had projects going in his free time. He was the go to man for building projects around his home and helping out friends and neighbors.
Mr. Lawless is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Lou, 1 daughter, Lisa (Roger) Fischels of Independence, 3 grandchildren, and 1 sister, Pam (Tom) Schafer of Independence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, David P. Lawless, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Hope Wesleyan Church in Independence with Rev. Bob Solon and Rev. Dean Feltes officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
