Jesup – Ernest H. Welter, 82 years old died Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center – West Campus in Independence, IA.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with burial in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.  Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Ernest Herbert Welter was born October 20, 1935, on the family farm, near Jesup, the son of Theodore Welter and Loretta (Sonday) Welter.  He graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1955.  He was a farmer before retirement and enjoyed playing cards with friends.

Ernest is survived by one sister, Norma Jean Colburn of Nevada, IA; and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, LeRoy Welter and Vincent Welter.
