Denver – Donald Anthony Jacque, 86 years old, of Denver, Iowa, passed away on January 5, 2018 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Don was born May 29, 1931 to LeRoy and Mary Gertrude (Dunn) Jacque in Monticello, Iowa. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Monticello, and then joined the U.S. Navy. He served as a Medic with Air/Sea Rescue (during the Korean War) from 1950 until his honorabe discharged in 1953. He returned to Monticello where he met the love of his life, Charlene Joann Thedens. They were married on August 19, 1958 and enjoyed 53 years together, until her death in March, 2012. They were parents to 6 children: Kye Jacque, Readlyn, Iowa; Kris and Pam (Becker) Jacque, Denver, Iowa; Kori and Tim Rohwer, Ankeny, Iowa; Kara Rump, Newhall, Iowa; Kelli and Steve Grubbs, Davenport, Iowa; and Kreig and Amber (Warneke) Jacque, Riverside, Iowa. Don was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, an accomplished story-teller & jokester, and a connoisseur of good brandy.
Don is survived by his six children and their spouses, 21 grandchildren and their spouses, and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene, his son-in-law, Greg Rump, his parents and his five siblings.
A private grave-side service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 with a celebration of his life held from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on January 20th at the American Legion Hall in Denver, where all friends and family are invited to share stories and reminisce. A Memorial Fund has been established for the Bremer County Conservation Board, at 415 E. Bremer Ave., Waverly, Iowa, 50677.
