White Funeral Home Gilbertville – Michael “Mick” Weber, 70 years old of Gilbertville, IA, died Sunday, December 17, 2017, at UnityPoint Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, IA, with burial at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Gilbertville. Military Rites will be conducted by Nugent-Demuth American Legion Post 714 of Gilbertville and assisted by the Military Funeral Honors Detail from the Iowa Army National Guard. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a Catholic Order of Forester Rosary at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or to the Bosco System, both in Gilbertville. Mick was born February 5, 1947, in Waterloo, IA, the son of Arnold Walter Weber and Camilla Leona (Delagardelle) Weber. He graduated from Don Bosco High School in Gilbertville and then attended Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo. On August 3, 1968, he was united in marriage to Karen Louise Hilmer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Porte City, IA. Mick work 31 years for Deere & Co. in Waterloo, retiring in 1997. He also worked at Younkers Department Store for 13 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and Nugent-Demuth American Legion Post 714 in Gilbertville and UAW Local 838 in Waterloo. He also had served in the US Army Reserves. Mick is survived by his wife, Karen Weber of Gilbertville; one son, Scott (Amy) Weber of Mt. Vernon, IA; one daughter, Michelle (Kent) Purdy of Cedar Falls, IA; 6 grandchildren, Samantha (Kyle) Formanek, Kylea (Nick) Brautigam, Jayden Weber, Trevor Weber, Emma Purdy, Alex Purdy; one great grandson, Maverick Formanek; also one brother, Randy (Janan) Weber of Raymond, IA; and two sisters, Sandy (David) Beyer of Palmetto, FL and Rosie (Bob) Bloes of Gilbertville, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents. |
