White Funeral Home Quasqueton - James E. Manson, 75 years old, of Quasqueton, died on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence. He was born in Independence on July 21, 1942, the son of Edwin James and Velma Sylvia (Redlinger) Manson. He graduated from high school in Quasqueton with the Class of 1960. He then earned his B.A. degree at Upper Iowa University in Fayette. Mr. Manson taught physical education, health science, and drivers education in the Walker school system which later consolidated to North Linn. He coached most every sport. Most recently he was a volunteer track coach for East Buchanan schools. He retired in 1997, but continued to help with coaching duties. He was the type of person that could fix most anything that was broken. He also enjoyed time spent cleaning, organizing, and mowing. Mr. Manson is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sally, 3 sons, Rod (Mandy) Manson of Solon,, and Chad (Christel) Manson and Mitch Manson, both of Quasqueton, and 1 daughter, Tina Ohl (Brian Zoll) of Quasqueton. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Jonah Manson, Hannah Manson, Jake Ohl, Brianna Zoll, Brayden Zoll, Brooke Zoll, Connor Manson, Michael Zoll, James Manson, and Leo Manson, 1 sister, Nedra (Harvey) Chesmore of Quasqueton, and his parents-in-law, Audrey and Leo Kress of Rowley. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 20th, at the Union Church in Quasqueton, with Rev. Kevin Jennings officiating. Burial will be in the Quasqueton Cemetery in Quasqueton. Friends may call for visitation from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19th, at the White Funeral Home in Quasqueton. |
