White Funeral Home Floyd Charles “Bink” O’Brien passed away peacefully at his home on Oct. 1st in Pfafftown, North Carolina, at the age of 86. He was born in Buchanan County, Iowa in 1931, to T.E. and Leila O’Brien, where he was a resident for 55 years before moving to North Carolina. Floyd proudly served in the United States Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. He touched many hearts over the years with his warm smile, overflowing generosity and sense of humor. Floyd is survived by his wife Nancy Hays O’Brien of 61 years and caregiver for the past 7 years; their children: Tracy (Sandra) O’Brien and Megan (Eddy Thompson) O’Brien; and three grandchildren: Christina and Michelle O’Brien and Jarred Kern. He is also survived by two brothers: Patrick and Dick O’Brien and one sister, Darlene Beatty. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark O'Brien; a brother, Harvey O'Brien; and two sisters: Iva Fratzke and Mary Lou Melka. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4th at White Funeral Home in Independence. The family will greet friends for an hour before the service at the funeral home and following the service at Okoboji Grill. |
