White Funeral Home Waterloo – Emelda “Jean” Frost, 89 years old of Landmark Commons, Waterloo, IA, died Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Friendship Village’s Park Lane Health Center in Waterloo. She was born February 14, 1928, to Edwin and Esther (Schutte) Matthias in rural Denver, IA. She graduated from East High School, Waterloo, IA, with the class of 1946, and then worked at Black’s Tea Room, Orpheum Theatre, and Northwestern Bell Telephone, all in Waterloo. On August 16, 1948, she was united in marriage to LeRoy “Lee” Frost in Waterloo, IA. After her marriage she worked for Frost Refrigeration for her husband and then moved to a farm in Independence, IA. After Lee’s death in 1970, she worked for Display Sign. Mrs. Frost is survived by two daughters, Diane Smith and Cynthia Lea (Ted) Monat; five grandchildren, Jason Lee Smith, Jennifer Lea (John) Jaquish, Benjamin Lee Monat, Luke (Veronica) Monat, and Mark Monat; six great grandchildren, Jersey Lea Jaquish, Gabriel Monat, Isabella Monat, Theodore Monat, Jaelee Jaquish and Samantha Monat; also, one sister, Arlene Broadway of Waterloo, IA, and one brother, Donley (Marilyn) Matthias of Arlington Hts., IL. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Frost on March 18, 1970; one son, Forrest Lee Frost on March 22, 2003; two sisters, Joan Stribley and Bernita Martin and brothers-in-law, Jim Martin and Pete Broadway. Public visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. – Tuesday, Sept 12, 2017, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA. A private family funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Sept 13, 2017, also at the funeral home, with burial at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, Waterloo, IA. |
