White Funeral Home Dunkerton – Donald Leroy Miller, 82 years old of Dunkerton, IA, died Friday, September 1, 2017, at his home. Donald was born on July 26, 1935 in rural Buchanan County, the son of Ray Miller and Emma (Jefferson) Miller. Don graduated from Dunkerton High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On March 7, 1964, he was united in marriage to Linda Lee Pryor at the First United Methodist Church in Dunkerton. Donald worked at Rath Packing in Waterloo, IA, until its closure in 1985; and then at OMJC. He was a member of Local 41 of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union and First United Methodist Church in Dunkerton. Don enjoyed repairing bicycles and cars, especially his ’55 Thunderbird. He also enjoyed going to auctions and putting puzzles together. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda of Dunkerton, IA; one son, Todd (Carolyn) Miller of Cantril, IA; one daughter, Janice Shores (William Browne) of Shell Rock, IA; two grandchildren, Lee Miller (fiancé Jessica Carroll), Corey Shores; 2 great grandchildren, Taiya Miller, Seth Carroll; and one sister, Zelma (Gary) Fink of Oran, IA. His parents; one brother, Dick Miller; and one sister, Kay Lundry, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at White Funeral Home, 1315 Main Street, Jesup, IA, with Reverend Patty M. Eastman officiating. Burial will be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo, IA. Military Rites will be conducted by the United States Army. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at White Funeral Home, Jesup. Visitation will continue for an hour before the services at the funeral home on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the church. White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, is in charge of arrangements. |
