White Funeral Home Jesup – James Eugene Smith, 84 years old of Jesup, IA, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at his home of natural causes. He was born July 6, 1932, in Waterloo, IA, the son of Harold James Smith and Edith Pearl (Siglin) Smith. He graduated from high school in Hazleton, IA and worked at Rath Packing and later worked at Iowa Ham as a meat cutter. On June 22, 1952 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Louise Cree. They lived in Jesup for many years, before moving to Fairbank, IA. He was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jesup and served in the United States Navy. James is survived by one daughter, Cindee (David) Adams of Mossyrock, Washington; two sons, Tim (Carol) Smith of Whitefish, Montana, and Scott (Connie) Smith of Jesup, Iowa; also 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and one sister, Pam (Kenneth) Pittman of West Union, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn in 2016, and one brother, “Bill” William Smith. Family services were held Friday, May 19, 2017, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA.
