Jesup – Gertrude “Trudy” Brown, 88 years old of Jesup, Iowa, died Monday, May 8, 2017, at her home following a short illness.  She was born October 7, 1928, in Augsburg, Germany the daughter of Joseph Lades and Johanna (Burger) Lades.  Following her primary education in Augsburg she attended a business college there for 2 years.  She met Paul John Brown while he was stationed in Europe with the US Military.  She came to America in 1948, and they were married at St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup on October 30, 1948.  After Paul’s military duties were completed they returned to Jesup in 1960.  Trudy was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church; had served on the Jesup Country Club board and was a EMT on the Jesup Ambulance Crew for several years.

Trudy is survived by two sons, Joseph Brown (Kathy Main) of Jesup; and Kevin Brown of Jesup; one great grandson, Brett Armstead of Florida; and one sister, Adelinde Warbeck of Munich, Germany.  She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Erwin Lades; one sister, Erna Kuttner; her husband Paul on November 16, 2003; one granddaughter, Tammy Armstead; and one great granddaughter, Jessica Huddleston.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Thursday, May 11, 2017, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with burial in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. – Wednesday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a 4:00 p.m. – Parish Rosary.  Visitation will continue for an hour before services Thursday at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the family.
