White Funeral Home Raymond – James Bernard “Jim” Clement, 71 years old, of Raymond, IA, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, IA, after a short illness. He was born April 4, 1946, in Redfield, SD, the son of Bernard Anthony Clement and Marcile Mary (Schmersal) Clement. He graduated from Miller High School with the class of 1964. He went on to South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in Rapid City, SD, where he was active in the Theta Tau Fraternity, and graduated in 1969 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Jim also served in the Naval Air Reserves from 1966 until 1969. On June 4, 1969, he was united in marriage to Margaret Louise Flynn in Rapid City, SD. She preceded him in death in 2013. Jim’s career took him all over the Midwest, and even to Sao Paulo, Brazil, for a short time. Jim started his career at Goodyear Automotive corporate office in Akron, OH, and stayed with the company through its transition to Meridian Inc. After 38 years and many moves, he and Margaret made their home in Raymond while Jim worked as a quality engineer at John Deere Inc. Jim was a loving father that was very involved with his family and the communities he called home. He loved to coach and be active in the PTA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and bowling. Jim was an avid Green Bay Packer and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He was a very charitable person that gave time and money to many worthy causes. Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Raymond; Knights of Columbus Council #8227 of Jesup, IA, where he was a past Grand Knight; Fourth Degree Member of Knights of Columbus, Hennessy Assembly #264 of Waterloo; and he was currently serving as District Deputy of the Iowa Knights of Columbus District #14. Jim is survived by two sons, Thomas (Lisa Nettleton) Clement of Peshtigo, WI, Joseph (Rachel) Clement of Chesapeake, VA; three daughters, Janel (Gabor) Orgovanyi of Fairfield, IA, Brandy (Tony) Jones of Lockridge, IA, Raina Clement of Fairfield, IA; eight grandchildren, Victoria Keltner, Jasmine Clement, James Clement, Autumn Clement, Jonathan Clement, Isaac Jones, Ashlee Jones, and Doratea Orgovanyi; and one sister, Mary Jo (Jim) Butler of Georgetown, TX. His parents; wife, Margaret; and one granddaughter, Alexandrea Orgovanyi preceded him in death. A memorial mass will be held 10:30 a.m. – Friday, May 5, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Raymond, with Father Henry P. Huber officiating. Memorial visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 4th at White Funeral Home, 1315 Main Street, Jesup, IA 50648 where there will be a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Rosary 5:30 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour at the church on Friday. Burial will take place at a later date in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, IA. Memorials may be directed to the church and to the Knights of Columbus.
