Mr. Moore also worked for the Independence Motor Speedway, the Dubuque racetrack, the Benton County racetrack, and the West Union racetrack. He hosted the Trackside Racing Show and the Independence Racetrack Show on local radio stations. He also was the owner of DJ’s bar in Independence. He was a volunteer driver for Veterans Affairs for 11 years and enjoyed ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. And he was a foster parent for 7 years. Mr. Moore enjoyed NASCAR racing, local stock car racing, camping, Hawkeye and Cyclone basketball and football, his two dogs (Bandit and Chance) and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, 3 daughters, Alisha Moore and Julieanne Moore, both of Independence, Iowa, and Sue Kruckenberg of Ogdon, Iowa, 1 son, Thomas (Monica) Moore of Johnston, Iowa, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Larry (Janis) Moore of Waterloo, Iowa, and Bill Moore of Mason City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Steve Moore, 1 sister, Dorothy Trafford, 3 brothers, Donavan Moore, Jerry Moore, and Eldon Moore, and 1 son-in-law, Larry Kruckenberg. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church inIndependence with Rev. Greg DeBoer officiating. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence where a Military Service begins at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be inMt. Hope Cemetery at a later date. |
