Manchester – Linda M. Smith, 63 years old, of Manchester, Iowa, formerly of Independence, Iowa, died on Friday, December 16, 2016, at the Ogden Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. She was born on February 6, 1953, in Iola, Wisconsin, the daughter of George Robert and Addrenne Ann (Olson) Smith. She graduated from high school in Independence, and then, she graduated from Hawkeye Technical College in Waterloo, Iowa. On October 31, 1970, she and William C. Smith were married at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence. They later divorced. Mrs. Smith was a registered nurse at East Towne Care Center in Independence for many years. She also worked as several facilities as a Director of Nursing in Wisconsin and Colorado. For 22 years, she helped her family with the operation of Riverside Auction in Independence. She retired in 2012. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, attending flea markets, and trading antiques.
Mrs. Smith is survived by 3 daughters, Heidi Magsamen and Heather (Neil) Eager, both of Independence, Iowa, and Hailee (Mark) Sandberg of Rowley, Iowa, and 5 grandchildren, Annabelle, Amelia, Bryce, Justin, and Claire. She is also survived by 1 sister, Georgia (Leo) Briggs of Loganville, Georgia, 1 brother, Keith (Jo Ann) Smith of Big Rock, Illinois, her significant other, Peter Kimball of Manchester, Iowa, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at the White Funeral Home in Independence with Sharon Bainbridge officiating. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
