White Funeral Home Independence – Larry L. Kauffman, 74 of Waterloo, IA and formerly of Independence, IA, died Friday, September 16, 2016, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, IA, of natural causes. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m., Monday, September 19, 2016, at White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a Celebration of Life Service starting at 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be 12:00 p.m, Tuesday at the Otterville Cemetery, Otterville, IA with lunch to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Jesup Bible Fellowship Church in Jesup, IA. Larry Lee Kauffman was born August 15, 1942, in Waterloo, IA, the son of Herbert Steele Kauffman and Alice Eudora (Card) Kauffman. He graduated from Waterloo West High School with the class of 1961. Larry joined the Navy and proudly served during the Vietnam War. On October 28, 1995, he and Betty Mae Reid were united in marriage in Waterloo, IA. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2015. Larry worked as a foreman at AY McDonald’s Plumbing & Heating Supply in Waterloo and Decorah. He also worked as the custodial director for Tri County Head Start in Waterloo. Following retirement he enjoyed mowing at the Red Carpet Golf Course. He was a member of the International Order of the Odd Fellows. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Miami Dolphin, and Chicago Cubs fan. Larry enjoyed spending time riding motorcycles, fishing, hunting and especially playing with his dogs. Larry is survived by 4 daughters, Pam (Clarence) Krusemark of Raymond, IA, Sonja (Daniel) Grant of Palmer, AK, Sherri (Doug) Fratzke of Independence, IA, Angie (Rob) Allison of Des Moines, IA; 2 sons, Randy (Gloria) Kauffman of Jesup, IA, Christopher (Luz) Kauffman of St. Joseph, MO; 18 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 1 brother, Michael (Becky) Kauffman of Waterloo, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; and a sister, Judy, in infancy. Memorials will be directed to the family. White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA is in charge of arrangements. |
