Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. – Friday, June 3, 2016, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence, IA, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 2nd at the White Funeral Home, Independence, IA, where there will be a Parish Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and Vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Memorials will be given to St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence and to the Kidney Foundation. Julia was born May 8, 1938, in Quasqueton, IA, the daughter of John D. Glenn and Almeda Delsie (Wilson) Glenn. She married Felix Hubert Butters, November 20, 1954, at St. John’s Church in Independence. Julia worked briefly at the Mental Health Institute in Independence after her marriage, but then became a mother and homemaker. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence. She enjoyed being a mother and grandmother, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, car races, concerts and performances. She also looked forward to popcorn and a 7-Up at Pat’s. She loved animals and had several pets over the years. Julia is survived by her husband, Felix of Independence; three daughters, Angela Johnson of Des Moines, IA, Kathleen (Mike Williamson) Cabalka of Independence, and Maribeth Butters of Independence, also three grandchildren, Leah (Nick) Wroten of Independence, Jillian (Chris Johnson) Butters of Davenport, IA, and Michael (Alisa Nelson) Cabalka of Independence; one brother, Robert (Judy) Glenn of Bettendorf, IA, and one sister, Shelia Payne of Quasqueton. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Kathy Luloff. |
