White Funeral Home Jesup – Stanley D. “Stan” Bohling, 86 years old of Independence, IA, and formerly of Jesup, IA, died Monday, May 9, 2016, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Friday at the church. Memorials will be directed to St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup. Stanley Dale Bohling was born September 27, 1929, in Green Ridge, Missouri, the son of Benjamin Franklin Bohling and Robin Edna (Ward) Bohling. Following graduation from Green Ridge High School with the class of 1947, he moved to the Waterloo, IA, area looking for employment. After a short time at John Deere in Waterloo, he began working as a farm hand near Jesup. He served in the US Marines during the Korean Conflict. In June of 1951, he was united in marriage to Imelda “Mel” Margarette Niemann in Jesup. They owned and operated Stan’s APCO Service Station in Jesup from 1960 – 1983, and then Stanley drove a fuel transport for Frost Oil Company. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #8227, and Pump-Scheer American Legion Post #342, all in Jesup. He also was a regular at the B & B coffee group. Stanley is survived by his wife, Imelda “Mel” Bohling of Independence, IA; two sons, David M. Bohling of Lexington, MO and Donald E. (Marla) Bohling of Jesup IA; two granddaughters; 2 step-grandchildren; 2 great greandchildren; and one brother, Bob Bohling of Belton, MO. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James W. “J.W.” Bohling, Ward Bohling and Larry Bohling; also, two sisters, Merle Klein and Helen Lyle. |
