Waterloo – Arnold Schneider, 84 years old of Waterloo, IA, died, Thursday, April 7, 2016, at his home.

Mr. Schneider was born, July 8, 1931, in rural Bremer county, the son of Elmer Schneider and Helena (Oltrogge) Schneider.

Mr. Schneider joined the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. On August 22, 1955 he was united in marriage to Betty Ann McNamara. She preceded him in death in 1970. He worked at Rath Packing Inc. until it’s closing and then he worked as a carpenter for Town & Country Home Improvement. Arnold was an avid square dancer and he also liked to build clocks in his spare time, including multiple grandfather clocks.

Mr. Schneider is survived by 1 son, Jim (Pat) Schneider of Hiawatha, IA; 1 daughter, Cathy (Kenny) Wright of Weimar, CA; 6 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; 2 brothers, Harvey (Gloria) Schneider of WI, Robert “Duke” (Marion) Schneider of Waverly, IA; 3 sisters, Esther Bast of Fairbank, IA, Norma Schlicting of Waterloo, IA, and Irma Goeller of Waterloo, IA.

Mr. Schneider was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Ann; and twin daughters in infancy, Marilyn & Carolyn.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.
