Mr. Steinbeck was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Independence, the Bechter-Boies V.F.W. Post #2440, the Sheehan-Tidball American Legion Post #30, and the N.R.A. He was formerly a member of the Brandon Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed vacationing in Branson, Missouri, playing cards, his recent trip to Washington, D.C. on an Honor Flight, and restoring his REO truck. Mr. Steinbeck is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marlene, 1 son, David (Terrace) Steinbeck of Evergreen, Colorado, 2 daughters, Beth (Mike) Little of Brandon, Iowa, and Amy Steinbeck of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and 5 grandchildren, Courtney (Matt) Templeton, Candace Little, Julie (Caleb) Downey, Walt Steinbeck, and Alan Steinbeck. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Norma Jean Nielsen. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2015, at the 1st United Methodist Church in Independence, Iowa, with Rev. Scott Meador officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence where a Military Service begins at 7 p.m. |
