Jesup – Robert Edward Emme, 85 years old, of Jesup, IA, died Saturday, January 2, 2016 at UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital, Waterloo, IA, of natural causes. He was born July 16, 1930, in Waterloo, IA, the son of Edward Ewalt Emme & Nora Katherine (Hansen) Emme.

Mr. Emme graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1948. On his birthday, July 16, 1950, he was united in marriage to Lydia Marie Gjovig at the American Lutheran Church in Jesup, IA. They made their home in Waterloo, IA, for a short time and then moved back to Jesup where they raised their family.

Robert worked as a serviceman supervisor for the Iowa Public Service company and retired in 1991. Mr. Emme was a former member of the Jesup Jaycees and Jesup City Council. He was also a member of the American Lutheran Church.

Mr. Emme is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lydia Emme, of Jesup; one son, Dennis Emme of Jesup; four daughters, Dian Hovey of Sandy, UT, Susan Emme of Jesup, Kim (Tim) Vosnos of Elgin, IL, and Lisa Emme of Elmhurst, IL; two grandchildren, Renee (Shawn) Milne of Tooele, UT, and Daniel (Brooke) Hovey of Salt Lake City, UT; and one great-granddaughter, Rose Lyn Hovey of Salt Lake City, UT.

His parents; one son, Dean Emme (2011), one grandson, Brian Hovey; and his sister, Darlene Reinhardt preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. - Friday, January 8, 2015 at the White Funeral Home in Jesup, IA, with Pastor Tom Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Crest Cemetery in Jesup, IA. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., Thursday, January 7, at the funeral home, as well as an hour before services on Friday at the funeral home.
