Independence – Rebecca A. Sargent, 33 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.  She was born on February 10, 1982, in Joplin, Missouri, the daughter of Mark Allyn and Roberta Susan (Dapron) Johnston.  She graduated from high school in St. Louis, Missouri, and then earned her Associates Degree at Kaplin University. She was a certified medical assistant at Medical Associates in Independence until she became disabled.  She married Chadd Daniel Sargent in St. Louis, Missouri.  They later divorced.  Mrs. Sargent enjoyed the company of her dog, Sadie, and dancing.

Mrs. Sargent is survived by her son, Devin M. Sargent of Independence, Iowa, and her parents, Bert and Mark Johnston of Independence,Iowa.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2016, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.

A Memorial Fund has been established at the Security State Bank, Independence, for Devin Sargent
