White Funeral Home Dunkerton – Jerald Joseph Knebel, 70 years old of Dunkerton, IA, died Monday, December 21, 2015, at NorthCrest Specialty Care in Waterloo, IA. He was born September 8, 1945, in Black Hawk County, IA, the son of Elmo L. Knebel and Irene (Bakula) Knebel. He graduated from the Dunkerton High School and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. On November 22, 1969, he was united in marriage to Carman Marie Smock in Dunkerton. They have made their home in Dunkerton where Jerald served on the Dunkerton Fire Department for many years and was employed at John Deere & CO – Waterloo, in the Maintenance Department. Jerald is survived by his wife, Carman of Dunkerton; two sons, Dan Knebel of Cedar Falls, IA, Joe (Caren) Knebel of Dunkerton; one daughter, Amy (Chris) Soppe of Dubuque, IA; 8 grandchildren, Olivia, Abi, Camryn, Blake, Zoie, Sage, Asher & Eliza; two brothers, Ed (Jackie) Knebel and Bill (Jane) Knebel both of Dunkerton; two sisters, Julie Claussen and Janet Knebel, both of Waterloo; and a brother in law, Ron Miller of Fairbank, IA. His parents and one sister, Joan Miller preceded him in death. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 24, 2015, at the Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton, IA. Peter Kress American Legion Post #636 will conduct Military Rites. Visitation will be from 5p.m. – 7p.m. Wednesday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA. |
