On February 19, 1946, he and the former Irene Elizabeth Schlumbohm were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Independence. She preceded him in death in 1973. On June 8, 1974, he and the former Eva Kathlene Anderson were married at the First United Methodist Church in Independence. She preceded him in death in 2010. Mr. Tiffany farmed and then, he was the owner and operator of two hardware stores in West Union, Iowa. In 1968, the family moved back to Independence and he worked at NAPA Auto Parts until retiring in 1987. Mr. Tiffany was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence, the Bechter-Boies V.F.W. Post #2440, and the Sheehan-Tidball American Legion Post #30. He was an avid fisherman and an accomplished woodworker. He enjoyed square dancing, traveling, and playing cards and Bingo. He was also a mentor in the Independence Community School System. Mr. Tiffany is survived by 1 daughter, Mary Ann (Joseph) Hooker of Des Moines, Iowa, 1 step daughter, Beverly (Michael) Curtiss of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, 1 brother, Herbert (Jan) Tiffany of Tempe, Arizona, and many nieces, nephews, and step family. In addition to his two wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Marcia Tiffany, 1 son, David L. Tiffany, 1 grandson, David M. Tiffany, and 2 sisters, Maxine Crawford and Emily Kroeger. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 24, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Independencewith Rev. Scott Meador officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23rd, at the White Funeral Home in Independence where a Military Service begins at 6:30 p.m. A Memorial Fund has been established. |
