White Funeral Home Jesup – Edwin L. “Louie” Carlson, 79 years old of Jesup, IA, died Thursday, November 5, 2015, at the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence, IA. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. – Monday, November 9, 2015, at Freedom Baptist Church, Independence, with Pastor Howard Mace officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday at the church and for an hour before services Monday at the church. Burial will be at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup with military rites conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be posted at www.White-MtHope.com Mr. Carlson was born June 16, 1936, in Waterloo, IA, the son of Andrew Roy Carlson and Mildred Isabel (Ramsey) Carlson. Following his educational years he served in the US Air Force from December 1954 – October 1958. On December 10, 1960 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Ruth Tock in Jesup. They divorced in 1969. Louie worked as a machinist for John Deere in Waterloo until retirement and was a member of UAW Local 838. He was a charter member of Freedom Baptist Church in Independence and a member of Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup. Mr. Carlson is survived by one daughter, Jeannine Carlson of Estherville, IA; two sons, Kyle (Tracy) Carlson of Wayland, IA, Carlton “Craig” Carlson of Goldfield, IA; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Lelamay (Alvin) Jones of La Porte City, IA; one brother, Donovan Carlson of McKinney, TX. His parents; two brothers, Ronald and Robert Carlson; one granddaughter, Amanda Kay Cornwell; and one grandson, Specialist Daniel Lewis Carlson, preceded him in death.
