Jesup – Roger Fred Schmidt, 77 years old of Jesup, IA, died Friday, October 16, 2015, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.  He was born December 13, 1937, at New Hampton, IA, the son of Fred Schmidt and Freida (Wolfgram) Schmidt.  He attended East High School in Waterloo and after his educational years he earned his GED while serving in the US Army.  He retired after 20 years with a rank of Seargent 1^st Class and then began working at Lewis Armored Car Systems in Waterloo from which he became manager and retired after 30 years in 2008.  On December 19, 1965, He was united in marriage to Janis Marie Adair at the Linden United Methodist Church in Waterloo.  They spent 10 years living in various parts of the US and Germany before moving to Jesup in 1977.

Mr. Schmidt is survived by two daughters, Lyn Timm of Independence, IA and Bobbie Schmidt of Jesup.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Janis.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. – Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church, Jesup, IA with Rev. Alex Bruening officiating.  Burial will be at the Garden of Memories, Waterloo, IA. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday at the white funeral home, Jesup and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church
