White Funeral Home Jesup – Gloria Elizabeth Gunia, 78 years old of Port Lavaca, TX, and formerly of Lansing and Jesup, IA; died Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, IA. She was born July 15, 1937, in Oelwein, IA, the daughter of Glen Alfred Humphrey and Frances Alberta (Weston) Humphrey. She graduated from Arlington, IA, high school with the class of 1955. On October 9, 1955, she married Eugene Waring in Arlington, IA. They divorced in 1964. In 1969, she married Brian Jacobs and they divorced in 1974. She then married Benjamin Frank Gunia on March 9, 1982, in Galena, IL. Gloria worked 17 years at Chamberlain Manufacturing in Waterloo. She enjoyed gardening, wintering in Texas and summering in Iowa. Mrs. Gunia is survived by her husband, Benjamin Gunia of Port Lavaca, TX; two sons, Mike (Chris) Waring of Jesup and Mark (Sandra) Waring of Walker, IA; 6 grandchildren, Matthew Waring, Brett Waring, Justin (Keely) Waring, Amber Waring, Shannon Waring, Brandon Waring; one great grandson, Casen Waring; two sisters, Judy (Robert) Hassler of Jesup and Linda (James) Anderson of Independence; one brother, Jack (Betty) Leet of Waterloo. Her father, Glen Humphrey and her mother, Frances Leet, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Monday, October 5, 2015, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, with burial at the Littleton Cemetery, Littleton, IA. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday and for an hour before services Monday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup. Memorials will be directed to a charity of the family's choice. |
