Independence – William H. Fry, 79 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Lexington Estate in Independence. He was born on April 12, 1936, in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Edward and Lois Aline (Robinson) Hilbert. He attended high school in Independence. On October 10, 1953, he and the former Nancy “Peg” Lou Tyler were married at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Independence. Mr. Fry was an instructor at the Eaton Corporation in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, until he retired in 1998. He was an active member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Independence. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and County music. He was a mechanical person and spent time welding gifts for his family. He also enjoyed socializing with friends and researching genealogical information.
Mr. Fry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Peg, 3 daughters, Roxie (Michael) Downs of Altoona, Iowa, Randi (Karen Brenner) Heintz of Nevada, Iowa, and Renee (Patrick) Hoye of Pleasant Hill, Iowa. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 1 brother, Jim (Kathy) Fry of Omaha, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Wendy Fry, and 1 brother, Terry Fry.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at the 1st United Methodist Church in Independencewith Rev. Scott Meador officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, September 11th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
