Quasqueton - Roy Payne, Jr., 74 years old, of Quasqueton, Iowa, died on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at his home in Keosauqua, Iowa. He was born on October 7, 1940, in Prairieburg, Iowa, the son of Adlia Roy and Lillian Martha (Soukup) Payne, Sr.  He attended school in Quasqueton, Iowa.  On February 21, 1959, he and the former Shelia Kay Glenn were married in Center Point, Iowa.  Mr. Payne was a production worker at John Deere Co. in Waterloo, Iowa.  He retired in 1990.  Mr. Payne was a simple hard worker whose family and grandchildren were the focus of his life.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and time spent at their home in Keosauqua.

Mr. Payne is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shelia, 2 sons, Rory (Penny) Payne of Alta, Iowa, and Joe (Janet) Payne of Independence, Iowa, 2 daughters,  Linda (Aaron) Haas of Independence, and Nancy “Bug” (Kyle) Grimm of Quasqueton, 16 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by 2 brothers, Don (Janice) Payne of Willmar, Minnesota, and John (Theresa) Payne of Quasqueton, and 2 sisters, Mary Cerwick of Marion, Iowa, and Doris (Clayton) Ohrt of Rowley, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Richard Payne.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at the Union Church in Quasqueton, Iowa, with Rev. Kevin Jennings officiating.  Burial will be in Quasqueton Cemetery in Quasqueton.  Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.on Tuesday, Aug. 4^th, at the White Funeral Home in Quasqueton.
