Mary Jane was born on June 12, 1925 near Winthrop, Iowa, daughter of Polish immigrants, John and Katie (Lupino) Mazur. Mary Jane graduated from Rowley High School, Class of 1941. Post high school, she attended Gates Business School in Waterloo, Iowa, subsequently employed in various businesses around Independence. Mary Jane was employed with the Buchanan County Assessor’s office at the time of her retirement. On July 22, 1948, Mary Jane Mazur and Virgil V. Dilts (Cricket) were united in marriage at St. John’s Catholic Church. Cricket and Mary Jane resided in Independence until relocating to Peoria, Arizona in 2004. Surviving are 1 daughter, Dawn (David) Wilson in Peoria, AZ; 2 sons, David in Waukee, IA; Thomas (Mary) in Altoona, IA; 2 grandchildren, Benjamin (Andrea) Wilson and Janine (Wilson) Pascua; and 5 great grandchildren Mykaela, Skout, and Aiden Wilson, and Kalani and Keilana Pascua. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 2 brothers, Joseph Mazur and Thomas Mazur, and 4 sisters, Josephine Decker, Ann Buelow, Kaye White, and Agnes Wilson. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church on July 11th at 1:30 PM, followed by a grave side service at MountHope Cemetery. Following the committal service, the family will greet friends at St. John’s Catholic Church hall. |
