Quasqueton – John Earl Lee, 46 years old, of Quasqueton, Iowa, died on Sunday, July 19, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born on January 2, 1969, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Richard Wayne and Lavonne Eleanor (Jennings) Lee. He graduated from East Buchanan High School in Winthrop, Iowa, with the Class of 1988. He served in the U.S. Army. On April 8, 2006, he and the former Vanessa Gene Yearous were married in Quasqueton. At the time of his death, Mr. Lee was a supervisor at Ashley Industrial Molding in Oelwein, Iowa. He was a member of the Cedar Rock American Legion Post #34 in Quasqueton. He liked spending time with his grandchildren, 4 wheeling, playing pool, and bowling. He was also always ready to help out with electrical and carpentry projects.
Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Vanessa, 1 daughter, Randdee Lee of Independence, Iowa, 1 son, John Lee, Jr. of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, 1 step son, Rick (Edina) Van Gorder of Independence, 1 step daughter, Jessica Matthews of Waterloo, and 4 grandchildren, Sydnie, Selena, Brady, and Lennox. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Wayne (Sue) Lee of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mike (Vicki) Lee of Quasqueton, and Curt (Marsha) Lee of Oelwein.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Jim Lee.
Military Rites will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2015, at the Quasqueton Cemetery in Quasqueton with a Celebration of Life following at the American Legion Hall in Quasqueton. White Funeral Home of Independence is helping with arrangements.
