White Funeral Home Independence – Mable M. Gosse, 102 years old, of rural Independence, Iowa, died on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence. She was born on March 13, 1913, in Menlo, Iowa, the daughter of Edd S. and Ova Alice Miller. She attended the Buchanan County schools. On January 16, 1932, she and Earl Wilbert Gosse were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. He preceded her in death in 1975. Mrs. Gosse was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Farm Bureau Ladies. She was the secretary for Farm Bureau Ladies for 30 years. She cared for her family on the farm and enjoyed gardening and sewing. She also crocheted. Mrs. Gosse is survived by 1 daughter, Shirley Hendrickson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 3 sons, Ken Gosse of West Union, Iowa, Gerald (Carolyn) Goss of Manchester, Iowa, and Robert Gosse of Independence, Iowa. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Carl Gosse, 1 grandson, Gary Hendrickson, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at the White Funeral Home in Independence with Pastor Greg DeBoer officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9th, at the funeral home. |
