White Funeral Home Independence – Douglas L. Hearn, 70 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at ABCM Rehab Independence – West Campus in Independence. He was born in Independence, Iowa, on August 22, 1944, the son of Cy and Alice (Higgins) Hearn. He graduated from St. John’s High School in Independence with the Class of 1962. On April 9, 1964, he and the former Linda Kaye Henderson were married at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence. Doug was a supervisor at John Deere Co. in Waterloo, Iowa, until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed time spent hunting and fishing. Doug is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda, 1 daughter, Rachel (Kevin) Snow of Wausau, Wisconsin, 1 son, Robert (Melissa) Hearn of Independence, Iowa, 8 grandchildren, and 1 brother, Richard (Joan) Hearn of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Kathy Eschen, and 1 brother, Donald Hearn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence. Rev. Donald Plamondon will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, May 15th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence. |
