White Funeral Home Independence – Carol L. Malinowski, 57 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was born on April 23, 1957, in Mt. Holly, New Jersey, the daughter of Paul Lester Harker, Jr., and Maryann Jones Harker. On May 26, 1975, she and Alfred Peter Malinowski were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gloucester, New Jersey. He preceded her in death in 1999. Carol was a home maker and waitress. She enjoyed all crafts, but mostly painting and making jewelry. She loved to spend time with her family, helping others, and telling stories. Carol is survived by 1 son, Alfred Malinowski of Audubon, New Jersey, 1 daughter, Kristy Malinowski of Independence, Iowa, and 3 grandchildren, Taylor Bolado, Olivia Malinowski, and Nicole Higgins. She is also survived by 3 brothers, Paul Harker Jr. of Dubuque, Iowa, and John (Wendy) Harker and Dean (Theresa) Briggs, both of Independence, Iowa, and 5 sisters, Karen Harker, Deanna (Bill) Armstead, Kimberly Harker, Dolly Jean (Stacy) Rasmussen and Debralee (James) Marsh, all of Independence, Iowa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call for visitation from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa. A Celebration of Life is planned for 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the home of Carol’s daughter, Kristy Malinowski, in Independence. Carol’s cremated remains will be interred at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bellmawr, New Jersey. A memorial fund has been established. |
