White Funeral Home Independence – Marie H. Hare, 83 years old of Independence, IA, died Monday, March 23, 2015, at Praire Hills Assisted Living in Independence, IA. She was born January 8, 1932, in Oelwein, IA, the daughter of Lloyd King and Lerene (Stoddard) King. She attended school in Oelwein. On July 1, 1948, she was united in marriage to James Richard Hare at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, IA. Mrs. Hare was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence. She was a homemaker, but also had worked at Blakesley’s and later Bentley’s Dry Cleaning. She did window dressing for several downtown businesses and with her husband, operated the Colonial Motel for several years in Independence. Mrs. Hare is survived by two daughters, Ann Duwa of Independence and Kathy (Greg) Corkery of Jesup; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; three brothers, Richard King of Olympia, WA, Robert (Joyce) King of Hudson, IA, Wayne King of Knoxville, IA; and one sister, Monica (Al) Wulf of Reinbeck, IA. Her parents, her husband James (January 10, 2014) and one sister, Doris Clubine preceded her in death. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Thursday, March 26, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church, Independence, with Rev. Scott Meador officiating. Music will be by Mary Schubich, organist and Brian Crawford, soloist. Casket Bearers will be Chris Duwa, Keegan Crawford, Mason Corkery, Michael Corkery, Richard King, Robert King and Wayne King. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Hazelton, IA. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 25th at the White Funeral Home, Independence, IA, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
