Elk Run Heights - Robert H. DeMoss, 83 of Vinton, IA, and formerly of Elk Run Heights, IA, died Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Unity Point Health – Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, IA.  Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. - Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the American Lutheran Church, Jesup, with burial at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup, IA.  Pump-Scheer American Legion Post #342 of Jesup will conduct military rites.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Monday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup and for an hour before services Tuesday at the Church.  Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer Association.

Mr. DeMoss was born April 2, 1931, at Lamont, IA, the son of Jack DeMoss and Mary (Karsten) DeMoss.  On September 17, 1949, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Rider in Waterloo.  Upon Robert’s enlistment in the US Army in 1949, he served in Korea from 1950 – 1951.  Following his discharge in 1952, they made their home in Elk Run Heights for many years while Robert worked 35 years at Rath Packing in Waterloo until it closed.  He later worked in Cedar Rapids and Marshalltown.  Mr. DeMoss also served 10 years on the Elk Run Heights Police Department from 1964 – 1975.  He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Evansdale.

Mr. DeMoss is survived by his wife Dorothy of Vinton; two daughters, Kathleen (James) Vogel of Waterloo, Robin (Brett) Nelson of Johnston, IA; one son, Robert “Bobby” (Sarah) DeMoss of Evansdale; six grandchildren, Christian (Amy) DeMoss, Amy (Vogel)(Jason) Arneson, Brian Vogel, Eric (Jennifer) Vogel, Jared Nelson and fiancé Ashley Bienemann, Jacob Nelson; one step grandson, Travis (Ashley) Saunders, 10 great grandchildren, Devin, Dylan and Dawson DeMoss; Seth, Ethan and Owen Arneson; Ariana and Gabriel Vogel; James and William Vogel; also one sister, Sandra (Robert) Schuety of Raymond, IA.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, John, in infancy.
