White Funeral Home Rowley – Our mother and grandmother, Norma L. Hand, entered into the loving arms of her Savior, Saturday, March 7, 2015. Mom was born to Christian and Gussie (Stevens) Meythaler on May 13, 1915. She attended country school and graduated from Independence High School in 1933. She met the love of her life and they secretly eloped to Galena, Illinois, on June 21, 1934. Mom and Dad lived and farmed in the Rowley community, eventually purchasing and settling on the family farm. To this union was born two daughters. Mom was truly a Proverbs 31 woman. Having given her life to Jesus in her middle years, she exemplified this as she lovingly and carefully served her husband and family well. Surviving Norma are her two daughters, Patricia Joan (Darrell) Sanford and Colleen Kay Nabholz. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Gussie and Christian Meythaler, her husband, Lloyd C. Hand, her sisters, Gertrude Hand, Mildred Stripes, and Lois Meythaler in infancy and her brothers, Mervin Meythaler and Harold Meythaler. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the United Methodist Church in Rowley, Iowa, with Rev. Sheri Andersen and Rev. J. Richard Ernst officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for an hour before services at the church. A Memorial Fund has been established for the United Methodist Church in Rowley and the Hillside Wesleyan Church in Fairfax. |
