White Funeral Home Cedar Falls – Mary A. Greene, 82 years old, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of Independence, Iowa, died on Monday, March 2, 2015, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was born on December 19, 1932, on a farm in Buchanan County near Rowley, Iowa, the daughter of Fern Floyd and Violet Lyle (Ferguson) Basquin. She attended the Independence public schools. On July 22, 1951, she and Kenneth Norman Greene were married in Independence. He preceded her in death in 2013. Mrs. Greene was a care giver for her husband and family. She enjoyed embroidery and sewing. And she was an accomplished gardener who raised flowering plants in her garden and also inside her home. Mrs. Greene is survived by 3 sons, David Greene of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Norman Greene of Waterloo, Iowa, and Steve (LeAnn) Greene of Nashua, Iowa. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Betty (Jack) Soener of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Darlene (Melvin) McReynolds of Prairie City, Iowa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Jeffrey Greene, and 1 brother, Floyd L. Basquin. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the White Funeral Home in Independence with Rev. Kevin Jennings officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence at a later date. The family will greet friends for an hour before services on Saturday. |
