White Funeral Home Jesup – Gerald J. Youngblut, 92 years old of Jesup, IA, died Saturday, December 13, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice House in Waterloo, IA. He was born August 23, 1922, in Black Hawk County, IA, the son of Clarence Youngblut and Clara (Welter) Youngblut. During his working years he farmed and worked as a drainage contractor. He had also worked at Rath Packing in Waterloo, IA. Gerald served in the US Army in Japan from 1945 – 1946. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, storytelling and his family. Mr. Youngblut is survived his wife, Charlene of Jesup, six daughters, Janan (Leonard) Weber of Dunkerton, Linda (Ronald) Bengston of Waterloo, Julie Youngblut of Iowa City, Marie (Del Moore) Schares of Jesup, Sharon (Dennis) Rigdon of Jesup, Lisa (Leon) Delagardelle of Jesup; five sons, Stephen (Deb) Youngblut of Jesup, Daniel “Yoder” (Tracey Bakkum) Youngblut, of Jesup, David (Ping) Youngblut of Waterloo, Ronald (Patty) Youngblut of Jesup, Bernard Youngblut of Waterloo; 37 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; two brothers, Irvin (Edna) Youngblut of Waterloo, William (Joan) Youngblut of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren, Nicholas Schares, Kristina and Jennifer Weber; and three brothers, Arnold “Barney” Youngblut, Richard “Dick” Youngblut and Clarence “Junior” Youngblut. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with burial at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Jesup. Military Rites will be conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 16th at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a Parish Rosary at 3:00 p.m.and Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Gerald Youngblut Memorial Fund in care of the family. |
