Dunkerton – Shirley M. Johnson, 78 years old of Bartles Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly, IA and formerly of Dunkerton, IA died Sunday, October 5, 2014, of natural causes.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. – Friday, October 10, 2014, at the Dunkerton Gospel Hall, Dunkerton with burial at Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

Shirley was born November 25, 1935 in Bremer County near Klinger, IA the daughter of Elmer A. Stumme and Eleanor (Schneider) Stumme.  On July 30, 1955, she was united in marriage Richard J. Johnson in Waterloo, IA.  They later divorced.  Shirley was a member of the Dunkerton Gospel Hall in Dunkerton and accepted the Lord as her personal savoir on July 23, 1972.  She worked as a secretary for several businesses but most recently before retirement she was secretary at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Waterloo.

Shirley is survived by one son Ricky (Vicki) Johnson of Dunkerton; four grandchildren, Lael (Jaime) Jimenez, Lyndsey (Tyler) Thomas, Rylan Johnson and Lanae Johnson; two brothers, James (Judy) Stumme of Cedar Falls, Jerry (Nancy) Stumme of Liberty, MO; two sisters, Delores Rigdon of Waterloo, Velda (Gaylord) Armstrong of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, and sister in law, Connie Stumme of Dunkerton.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Diane Lynn in 1966; one brother, Darrel Stumme; and a brother in law, Irvin Rigdon.
