Walker – Lynn M. Williams, 92 years old, of rural Walker, Iowa, died on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at the Yuma Regional Medical Center in Yuma, Arizona. He was born in Buchanan County, near Walker, Iowa, on May 21, 1922, the son of Earl Marvin and Lillian Kathryn (McCright) Williams. He attended the Buchanan County country schools. On August 22, 1943, he and the former Genevia Audrey Gunnison were married at the Christian Church in Marion, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 2012. During World War II, Mr. Williams served with the U.S. Army in the Aleutian Islands. He farmed in the Walker area all of his life. Mr. Williams was a member of the Walker Bible Church in Walker and the Sheehan-Tidball American Legion Post #30 in Independence. He enjoyed wintering in Arizona, coffee with his friends, and anything to do with the farm.
Mr. Williams is survived by 1 son, James Williams of Walker, Iowa, 1 daughter, Jeanne (Keith) Dudley of Troy Mills, Iowa, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 1 brother, Clarence (Gwen) Williams of Oelwein, Iowa.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Loyd Williams, and 1 sister-in-law, Dorris Williams.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at the Walker Bible Church in Walker, Iowa, with Pastor Casey Reinkoester officiating. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery in Walker. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.on Friday, Sept. 19th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence where a Military Service begins at 7 p.m.
