Independence – Margaret L. Beltz, 73 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center Independence – West, in Independence.  She was born on September 26, 1940 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Delbert E. and Elizabeth M. (Croskey) Marshall.  She attended school in Winthrop, Iowa.  On May 14, 1960, she and Charles Junior Beltz were married in Iowa City, Iowa.  Mrs. Beltz was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence and was a volunteer for Buchanan County Hospice.  She enjoyed any type of craft activity.  She crocheted blankets, hats, and scarves, and also worked in ceramics.

Mrs. Beltz is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles, 3 daughters, Charline Beltz of Marion, Iowa, Joelene (Todd) Miller and Melynda (Thomas) Tegler, both of Independence, and 1 son, Scott (Tina) Beltz of Independence.  She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 half brothers, Ernest (Barb) Bruster of Madrid, Iowa, and Dennis (Virginia) Bruster of Amana,Iowa, and 2 half sisters, Zanita Blume of Fr. Dodge, Iowa, and Rozella Masek of Oelwein, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Charles Langham, 1 brother, Russell Marshall, 1 grandson, and 2 great-grandsons.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence with Pastor Greg DeBoer officiating.  Friends may call for visitation from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22^nd, at the White Funeral Home inIndependence.
