Jesup – Shirley P. Solomon, 69 years old of Jesup, IA, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Manor Care Health Systems in Waterloo, IA, following a lengthy illness.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with Msgr. Lyle L. Wilgenbusch officiating.  Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Guttenberg, IA.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.  There will be a Parish Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

Shirley Pauline Solomon was born April 4, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, IA, the daughter of Leonard Francis Brush and Margaret Mary (Boyd) Brush.  She attended school in Guttenberg, IA, and graduated from Guttenberg High School with the class of 1963.  She was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup, IA.

She is survived by her husband, Russell Solomon of Jesup, IA; one daughter, Serena (Kevin) Walker of Centerton, AR; one son, Shane (April) Solomon of Jesup, IA; six grandchildren, Angelic, Madison, Noah and Samantha Fink, Mackenzie and Paige Solomon; two sisters, Bernice Heyer of Wylie, TX, Frances (Al) Troester of Guttenberg, IA.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Belinda Fink; her parents and two sisters, Marilyn Ashmore and Karen Recob.
