Independence – Joan N. Wilson, 71 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Sunday, June 29, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.  She was born on July 7, 1942, in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Max Lurch and Ruth Naomi (Fidler) Pearson.  She attended school in Pennsylvania.  OnSeptember 28, 1964, she and William Paul Wilson were married in Vinton, Iowa.  They farmed in Buchanan County until 1989.  Mrs. Wilson was a member of the LivingWater Church in Independence.  She enjoyed house cats and farm cats and her flower gardens.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her husband of 49 years, William, 2 sons, Robert (Kristi) Wilson of Glenwood, Minnesota, and Jerry Wilson of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, 1 grandson, 1 brother, John (Linda) Pearson of Koontz Lake, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister, Joyce Rissel.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at the LivingWater Church in Independence with Pastor John Sheda officiating.  Her cremated remains will be buried at a later date.
