Independence –Margaret Ann “Peggy” Knowles, 60 years old of Independence, IA, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, IA. She was born January 8, 1954, in Independence, IA, the daughter of James Patrick Lynch, Sr. and Donna Mae (Temeyer) Lynch. She graduated from Independence High School with the class of 1972. On October 28, 1989, she was united in marriage to William Joseph Knowles in Independence. Peggy was employed as the head lunchroom cook at St. John’s Elementary School in Independence, and was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren at the cabin on the Wapsipinicon River, fishing and looking for deer, and in the winter months, playing cards.

Mrs. Knowles is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Knowles of Independence; one daughter, Cary (Brian) Prusator of Independence; one son, Jesse Roscovius of Independence; four grandchildren, Garrett Prusator, Peighton Prusator, Megahn Roscovius and Keaton Roscovius; also four sisters, Marion (Larry) Schanke of Del City, OK, Cindy (Steve) Hummel of Independence, Debra Rasmussen of Independence, Karen (Marc) Miller of Toddville; two brothers, James (Sheryl) Lynch, Jr. of St. James, MO, David (Joan) Lynch of Independence; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Timothy Schanke.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. - Friday, April 11, 2014, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence, with Fr. Donald J. Plamondon as celebrant. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the White Funeral Home, Independence, where there will be a Vigil service at 7:30 p.m.
