White Funeral Home Independence – Katherine M. Stupp, 90 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at New Aldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was born on December 1, 1923, in Chester, Iowa, the daughter of Glendon William and Ruth Luella (Staley) Bundy. In 1942, she and Leland Kenneth Kimball were married. He preceded her in death in 1949. On August 16, 1953, she and Dale Deforest Stupp were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence, Iowa. In addition to caring for her family, Mrs. Stupp was a bookkeeper for McGrane Pharmacy and Hess Pharmacy in Independence. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. Mrs. Stupp enjoyed her rural Independence home which accommodated her love of dogs, cats, and riding horses. She also kept a flower garden with an emphasis on gladiolus flowers. She enjoyed attending rodeos, dancing, and traditional country music. She is remembered for baking Christmas candies, baking pies, and her interest in Hawkeye basketball and New York Yankees baseball games. Mrs. Stupp is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dale, 4 daughters, Judy (Ronald) Clough of Danbury, Iowa, Rosemary Potts of Independence, Iowa, Sandra Gardner of Waterloo, Iowa, and Deanna (Patrick) Hurst of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, Joan Engen, 1 brother, Glendon Bundy, and 2 granddaughters. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation for an hour before services at the church on Wednesday. A Memorial Fund has been established for Wee Care Preschool at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements. |
